Romantic drama based on the novel by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. When teenagers Florentino Ariza (Unax Ugalde) and Fermina Daza (Giovanna Mezzogiorno) fall in love, their romance is cut short by a disapproving father who takes his family away. When Florentino (now played by Javier Bardem) finds out years later that Fermina has married a successful doctor, he is devastated and spends the next 50 years trying to build a successful life and reputation in the hope that one day he and Fermina can renew their relationship.
